YOUR INFORMATION

Privacy, in plain language.

How this version of the MIC portal handles your information.

Location and area search

Choose Enable location or Use my location to allow location in your browser. If permission was already granted, MIC can obtain a fresh position automatically when the portal opens. Device coordinates remain in memory across pages during your visit for nearby recommendations and distance calculations; MIC does not send them to its server, store them in an account, or track location in the background. Turn off location or close the tab to remove the selected position. Only your location-off preference, not coordinates, is kept in session storage so it remains off after a refresh in that tab. Your browser location provider has its own policies.

Typed cities, postal codes and addresses are sent through MIC to Photon, an OpenStreetMap-based geocoder, to resolve the area. Avoid entering private details. Location-specific search requests are not persisted by this feature; the provider and hosting service may retain standard operational logs. Directions links open Google Maps with the listed destination.

Saved connections

Bookmarks are stored in your browser’s local storage. They are not linked to an MIC account or synchronized to other devices. Remove them individually using the bookmark button, or clear this site’s browser storage.

Community suggestions

When you submit a suggestion, MIC stores the details you provide, your email address, your permission to share the information, and a submission timestamp in its Supabase database. These are used for review and follow-up. Your email is not displayed publicly.

A keyed hash of your network address is used for submission rate limits. The submission record does not contain your raw network address. Hosting providers may retain standard operational logs separately.

Marketplace accounts and advertisements

Marketplace sign-in is handled by Supabase Auth through email verification. The sign-in session is stored in this browser so you can manage your offerings; use Sign out on the marketplace account page to end it. MIC stores advertisement details, the account identifier, selected public contact details, photos, review status and reports in its private database and storage. Your sign-in email is visible to MIC moderators and is not published unless you separately enter it as a public advertisement contact.

Draft and pending photos are private. Short-lived photo links are shared with the advertiser and MIC moderators for review. Pending-ad details, selected contact information and temporary photo links may also be sent privately to MIC moderators through Resend. Email review links expire after 24 hours and stop working when the ad is changed or reviewed. Approved photos, descriptions, city/service area and selected contact methods become public. Photo metadata is removed during processing. Optional advertiser map points describe a public service area; visitor device coordinates are not attached to advertisements. Expired and withdrawn ads are removed from public browsing, while moderation records and uploaded files may remain privately retained for review and abuse prevention. Contact MIC for an account or data-deletion request.

External sites

Facebook and resource-provider links take you to services with their own privacy policies. This portal does not embed a Facebook tracker or import your Facebook profile.

Videos and publisher media

Community video thumbnails load from YouTube and news images may load from the original publisher. Those requests share standard connection information, such as your network address, with the media provider. YouTube players load only when you choose to play a video, using the privacy-enhanced youtube-nocookie domain. Playback remains subject to YouTube policies. Publisher articles and social links open the relevant provider website.

Questions and deletion requests

Contact MIC through its Facebook page with your submission reference if you would like the team to locate a suggestion or address a privacy concern. Do not post private details in public comments.
